Can surf parks replace the real thing? Print E-mail
Sunday, 08 July 2007
Hey Ma! I am just going down the the mall (or Dreamwworld) for a few waves. Can I have fifty bucks pleeeeeze?????

Each year we see the artificial surf park gets more steam. Whether it's the fun-park weak crumbling mush, the Flowrider or Ron Jon's Surfpark it's definitely getting better. I wonder when it will be good enough or what the impact will be on surfing?

Surfing the Pororoca - catch a 30min Plus wave Print E-mail
Saturday, 21 April 2007
The Pororoca is a tidal river wave is generated by massive tides on the Amazon river in Brazil. The wave comes in from the sea and funnels down the river creating a tidal bore.

The wave can be ridden for more than 30 minutes and travel about 12 km.

Sheeesh... one wave and you can probably do more stand-up time on a wave than most folk do in a lifetime

Poroc-poroc is native indian for "Big Roar" see below the video...
